The Breakers might be called a hotel. It could be called a resort. But really The Breakers is an experience in American history and culture. The gorgeous hotel that stands today was built in 1926 after fire destroyed the previous building.
The ceilings in the mail lobby and first-floor public rooms were painted by 75 artisans who were brought from Italy. The entire building is modeled after the Villa Medici in Rome, and it is a site to behold. Even if you aren't staying a night at the hotel, it is a focal point of Palm Beach and should be checked off any tourist's list.
