Beach-to-Reef Fun

This pocket-sized county park on the north seashore of Singer Island makes up for its modest acreage with sheer beauty. Coconut and cabbage palms cast friendly shade over the picnic area, natural strand and dune vegetation backdrops the beach, and waves break over a compact reef just offshore. With its on-duty lifeguards, it's a fine place for all-ages swimming. Meantime that easy-to-reach reef attracts snorkelers (and even waders) with its conspicuous roster of Gulf Stream fish.

Another bonus: Taking in the sunrise from a dawn beach is an institution on Florida's Atlantic coast, and Ocean Reef Park provides front-row seats for the affair.
