Hippy Heyday

Buena Vista Park, located in the famous Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, is the oldest official park in the city of San Francisco. This large hill provides beautiful views of the city that reach all the way out to Marin Headlands (that is, if you are lucky enough to avoid the fog). Historically Buena Vista Park was a gathering place for hippies in the 60's and 70's where they would go to smoke reefer, and as the Haight-Ashbury became one of the centers for the free love movement, so did the beautiful park right next door. We would be lying if we told you that this no longer happens at the park...just keep your nose open and enjoy the view of the city.
