The Carmel Bach Festival has been held for over 80 years in Carmel, California. It started as a four-day series of concerts at the Sunset School Auditorium and the Carmel Mission Basilica and over time, it grew to a three-week celebration full of concerts, recitals, master classes, lectures, and open rehearsals. In 2009, the festival was redesigned and shortened to two weeks with a mission of celebrating the works, inspiration and ongoing influence of Johann Sebastian Bach.
The festival immerses the audience by integrating music, education and ideas. You will gain a new appreciation for classical music and the brilliant mind of Bach after attending the festival. It is usually held in July, though it sometimes extends into August.
