A Unique Living Landmark

In addition to preserving and cultivating rare plants from exotic environments, the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, also known as The Domes, were completed in 1967 and renovated in 2008. During the renovation, they added an internal and external LED lighting system. This gives them a distinctive place in the Milwaukee skyline, especially after dark.

These modern domes are more than conventional plant conservatories. There are three domes, one featuring desert plants, another with a replicated tropical environment, and a third designed for floral shows. The Domes also host special annual events for the whole community and organizes educational tours and field-trip programs.
