This national historic landmark was once the winter home of agricultural industrialist James Deering in the early 20th century. The estate, once called Villa Vizcaya, has been preserved and is now open to visitors to experience the rich Venetian style architecture, breathtaking gardens, and artful landscape.
The gardens are a popular spot for weddings and special events as well as photo opportunities. You can take a guided tour to learn about the history of the estate or just wander through the gardens and get lost in the mazes of bushes. You're allowed inside the mansion as well although you can't take any photos. You can explore all the side rooms and nooks and crannies that Deering built, though.
