Coastal Causeway

The Vetenian Causeway crosses Biscayne Bay between Miami on the mainland and Miami Beach on a barrier island. The causeway actually follows the original route of Collins Bridge, which was a wooden 2.5 mile bridge that was built in 1913 that opened up the barrier island for growth and development.

The Venetian Causeway underwent a restoration project in 1999 and is now an important part of Miami's road infrastructure. The causeway is also an excellent place for joggers and bicyclists to get in some exercise.
