Neptune Memorial Reef

Neptune was the Roman god of the sea. Whether or not he was associated with the Lost City of Atlantis is unclear, but this artificial reef located 3.25 miles east of Key Biscayne is a reproduction of that lost city 40 feet under the sea.

The reef is free and accessible to anyone with scuba diving gear. If you don't know how to dive, you can contact one of the reef's dive partners for instruction. Since the manmade reef's inception, marine life has multiplied. The reef provides a habitat for all kinds of marine life and is environmentally sound. In addition to reproducing the sunken city of Atlantis, the reef acts as a memorial and green burial ground. The cremation ashes become part of the feature.

Utrip Tips

*Being certified in diving is necessary to reach the reef. We recommend checking out Ocean Safari Diving Adventures or Tarpoon Lagoon Diving Center.
