Because Separate is Not Equal

Unique installations, creative exhibitions, guest speakers and special events make this a community network, and an educational center, in addition to a museum. The location traces the roots of the Civil Rights movement in the United States, extending back into the history of immigration and slavery.

The permanent collections in the museum include artifacts, films, oral histories, and interactive media that chronicle the tumultuous history of Civil Rights in America. There is an always-evolving special exhibit that focuses on a specific topic, such as Voices of the Civil Rights Movement. The Legacy Building, a separate wing of the museum, features the important people and pivotal events that continue to evolve the civil rights movement worldwide.
