This museum is serious about rock and soul music, but that doesn't mean that this venue is a conventional collection of displays and exhibits. The location also organizes "sound education" plans for teachers and students, hosts parties and special events, and sells a line of pop-culture related clothing and accessories.
The museum was created by the Smithsonian Institution to tell the story of the innovative musicians and creative pioneers that developed this uniquely American form of artistic expression.
