Hidden in the midst of Westwood's business district, the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park should have priority status on your list of Los Angeles destinations. As much garden as cemetery, this gorgeous memorial park covers 2.5 acres filled with established trees, flowers and plants. Garden mausoleums, indoor crypts, and a lush cremation garden are the final resting places of some of the country's most notable people, including Ray Bradbury, Truman Capote, Janis Joplin, Merv Griffin, and Marilyn Monroe. The cemetery was established on bare land in 1905, and is listed as a historical and cultural monument by the Cultural Heritage Comission of the City of Los Angeles.
