The USS Iowa proudly served the Navy for 50 years and saw plenty of action in World War II, the Korean War, and the Cold War. After being decommissioned in 1990, this BB-61 battleship was retired to the Port of Los Angeles in 2012 and opened as a museum. Today, guests of all ages can tour the massive ship to learn more about its operations during times of war and peace. Family tours show you the living quarters, decks, guns, shields, and fantail that all represent major pieces of U.S. military history. The museum's volunteers are a wealth of knowledge—many are veterans themselves—and may spark an interest you never knew you had.
