Despite its world-class exhibits and incredible architecture, the Santa Monica Museum of Art is something of a hidden gem. Even those that live in LA are all too unaware of this artistic treasure.
Established in 1984, the Santa Monica Museum of Art features contemporary art from local, national, and international artists from a variety of mediums. In addition to the art on display, both the exterior and interior architecture are worth a visit in themselves. There is even a hands-on area to better engage children.
Next door is Bergamont Station, a facility that contains a number of art galleries. The museum acts as something of a launching point for the various wares for sale here.
