Loop Around Lake Tahoe

The famed Tahoe Rim Trail is a 165-mile trail that loops around the lake and features majestic scenery. Hike through the enchanting landscapes of the Carson and Sierra Nevada ranges while enjoying some outdoor fitness.

The entire trail is set aside for hiking, but about half of it allows for mountain biking. Horseback riding is also a popular pastime on the trail. If you're hiking on foot, the best times to attack this trail is from July through September. Always check weather forecasts as storms are not uncommon.

Utrip Tips

*Be sure to pack a lunch, there are no places to stop along the trail to buy food (and you'll most definitely get hungry).
*Local Mountain Biking Expert Ben Fish recommends checking out Castle Rock: "This small spur off the Tahoe Rim Trail north of Kingsbury Grade offers amazing lake views, especially at sunset."
