Summer and Winter Fun

The Kirkwood Resort's location atop the Sierra Crest means you'll enjoy deep, dry snow that's perfect for skiing or snowboarding. With elevations ranging from 7,800 to 9,800 feet, the resort gets more snow than any other place in the area.

The slopes offer open bowls and challenging terrain for the experienced skier or boarder and more gentle hills for the beginners. Ski and ride schools are offered for both kids and adults.

During the summer months, Kirkwood Resort is the place to be for mountain biking, disc golf, rock climbing, hiking, fishing and horseback riding.

Utrip Tips

*Recommended by Local Expert Jenn Gleckman who says: "This is a skiers mountain. Steeps, trees, and plenty of interesting terrain. Try: Chair 4 (backside) for the wide open bowls and views of the nearby Mokulumne Wilderness. Advanced riders should check out the steep groomers like Zachary’s (black run) and Monte Wolfe’s (black run) off Chair 6." For lunch on the mountain, Jenn recommends 7800 Bar & Grill, at the base of the mountain. Après skiing, Jenn says: "Check out the Kirkwood Inn, a rustic log cabin that dates back to the 1800s, for some drinks!"
