San Francisco banker Isaias Hellmann wanted a comfortable retreat from life in the big city, and he found it at Pine Lodge. The two-story Queen Anne home was completed in 1903 and was run by a staff of 27 servants.
The house features eight bedrooms, a dramatic spiral staircase, a game room and dining room paneling made with hand-woven strips of redwood and hand-woven grass. The grounds are just as interesting as the house and include a caretaker's cabin, children's cabin and a water tower that was used to generate electricity for the mansion. Tours of the home are offered during the summer.
