Originally dating back to the 1878 (when this was just a campsite centered around the Glen Alpine Springs), Glen Alpine Springs Resort served as a popular base of operations for the outdoorsfolk of yesteryear. While the resort closed down in the 1960s, you're still able to take a tour of this amazing piece of Tahoe's outdoor history. Summer weekends allow you to take a guided stroll around the resort and peek into the past—by way of tiny windows and equally as tiny buildings—and see how folks used to spend their outdoor Tahoe vacations.
