Morning Bicycle Workout

Corral Loop Trail is a very popular Lake Tahoe mountain biking trail. Located on the South Shore, it gets dozens of visitors every day of good weather.

Yet despite its popularity, the riding is outstanding at Corral Loop. The trail never gets too crowded. This is thanks in large part to the fact that the surrounding area is fast becoming something of a trail network. Even on sunny days, riders are able to spread out, explore, and find a free area.

Corral Loops starts at about 7,000 feet and runs for a little more than 2 miles. The top of the trail is regarded as difficult and includes several rock garden sections. After a small creek crossing, the riding becomes much gentler and easier.

Utrip Tips

*The bottom of the trailhead is on Fountain Place Road. You'll see a gated dirt road and a small dirt parking area just after you cross the first creek on the way up. Continue driving up or leave your car here if you are taking a shuttle. The top of the Corral Loop is about 2 miles up with a decent size paved parking.
*Local Expert Matt Palacio says: "This trail was recently rebuilt by TAMBA and the Forest Service and has terrain and features for all ages."
*Local Mountain Biking Expert Ben Fish recommends taking the Railroad Grade Trail: "A short and flat trail that meanders along a beautiful stream and will bring you to the bottom of Corral Trail." He also recommends taking the Sidewinder Trail to the Lower Corral Trail: "These trails offer something for everyone with fun jumps and big berms. They can even be shuttled and great for families too!"
