Lakeside History

From the thousands of years of indigenous heritage to frontier trapping, mining, and lumbering, the Lake Chelan area has history to match its grand landscapes. The past takes center stage at the Chelan Museum, run by the Lake Chelan Historical Society and housed in the former Miners and Merchants Bank, built in 1907. The well-curated collection includes American Indian artifacts, vintage logging gear, a mining cabin, loads of old newspapers and photographs, and other regional relics--yours to explore with free admission!
