The Na Pali Coast on Kauai's northwestern rim is, without question, one of the world's most stunning seacoasts: a rampart of impossibly sheer, impossibly green, waterfall-laced cliffs eroded into plunging canyons and pinnacled knife ridges. This remote, roadless place, the heart of which is the ridiculously gorgeous Kalalau Valley, is nonetheless instantly recognizable to many (even if they don't know it by name), given the scenery it's contributed to Jurassic Park and more than a few other Hollywood blockbusters.
You can get an iconic glimpse of the Na Pali Coast from the heights of Kokee State Park (or on a helicopter ride), but to actually reach its farflung beaches you either need to hike in via the thrilling but risky Kalalau Trail or kayak in. If you want to camp, request a permit well in advance!
