Often referred to as the “Paris of the Plains”, Kansas City, Missouri is brimming with culture. Its nickname originates from the fact that Kansas City has more boulevards than any other city in the world outside of Paris. Large tree lined streets, extravagant fountains, gorgeous historic mansions, and diverse and beautiful architecture (including a famous church designed by Frank Lloyd Wright) all contribute to Kansas City’s ambiance and appeal.

But of course Kansas City isn’t all high culture. Succulent barbecue, nationally beloved sports teams like the Chiefs and the Royals, and a claim as one of the birth places of Bebop Jazz make Kansas City a true All-American destination. In addition, several up and coming neighborhoods have drawn large crowds of young Missourians to Kansas City and with them have followed hip coffee shops, modern restaurants, craft breweries, and a budding tech industry. Kansas city is both young and historic, vibrant and rooted—a destination worth a place on your list of must visit American cities.
