The Ritz Theatre and LaVilla Museum are major sites on Jacksonville's Black History Trail. As a hub for African American art and culture, the theatre continues to showcase music and dance performances as well as special private events. Constructed in 1929, the Art Deco theatre has been restored and serves as a popular cultural center even today. Located at the theatre, the LaVilla Museum is dedicated to African American culture and history. Through its collections and exhibits, the museum preserves and shares the stories of many African Americans who lived in northern Florida from the time of slavery to the present.
