Architecturally Significant Residence

Built in the 1930s overlooking Diamond Head and the twinkling Pacific, Shangri La was the home of avid art collector Doris Duke. The house features many Islamic architectural elements and is filled with Islamic art. Duke willed her property and collections to the public and they remain a popular area attraction.

Aside from the artwork on display, Shangri La is the site of various events and educational programming. If you are in the area, stop in and take the tour of the house and witness its marvelous collections.
