Near the hustle of urbanized southwestern Florida is a 100-acre preserve dedicated to connecting people with nature. Named after the original native people of this part of the state, the center offers a system of trails where you can explore what the area looked like centuries ago. There are also wild (rescued) animals for view, a butterfly enclosure and even the opportunity for hands-on experiences with native snakes. The planetarium is particularly popular, with scheduled shows. There is also a gift shop. If you have the time, bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic on the grounds.
