Disneyland, California

"The Most Magical Place on Earth"

Overview

The most famous and popular theme park in the world, this entertainment, shopping and dining complex has attracted millions of visitors in the more than six decades since it first opened. It is constantly being updated and improved, with new rides and attractions added and established ones upgraded. Yet, the park still retains such beloved classics as Alice in Wonderland, Casey Jr. Circus Train, the Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride and, of course, the monorail.

Some visitors come back again and again, finding something new (as well as familiar) each time, while first-time guests will discover an entire world of fantasy and entertainment. Everyone, however, will find a range of shops, offering everything from Disney-themed souvenirs to apparel, housewares, toys, electronics, art and collectibles. While in the park, you're also never far from a sit-down restaurant, casual diner or one of the many food carts.

Rides and attractions come in many styles, including toddler-friendly, fun and easy ones, such as King Arthur Carrousel, Chip 'n Dale Treehouse and Donald's Boat. For older, more adventurous children and adults, the thrilling Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, Indiana Jones Adventure and the famous Matterhorn Bobsleds will meet their expectations. One of the most wonderful ways to enjoy the park, however, is to just stroll the ground and interact with the costumed characters; get your photograph taken with Mickey or Goofy or talk with a princess.

Keep in mind that this is a big park, so experienced visitors have learned not to try to see everything in one day. Pick a few specific areas and explore them to your heart's content. Comfortable shoes and clothing, hats and sunscreen will help. Most of all, have fun!
