Anyone who is a fan of NASCAR knows and loves the Daytona 500, the premier race in their series. Held every year since the Daytona International Speedway was opened in 1959, just after the organization was founded, this race opens the season on the last Sunday in February. Yes, you can see it on television, but to really experience the event you need to be there in person at least once in your life. Needless to say, plan ahead. Buy your tickets well in advance, make your plans for where to stay and get the best pair of earplugs you can find. Then, show up and enjoy! While you're there, of course you'll have to stop by the Visitor's Center and the Fanatics Pit Shop for some things to take home and make all your friends even more jealous.
