The Majestic is a lovely art deco building redolent of the era when it was designed in the roaring twenties. After serving its time as a vaudeville theatre in the twenties, the thirties saw it converted into a movie theatre.
Premieres here were attended by some of the biggest Hollywood stars of the time, including Jimmy Stewart and Gregory Peck.
The last film was shown in the Majestic in 1973, and a period of darkness was followed by rebirth as a music and performing arts venue attracting some of today's big local and national names.
