If you're a purist about what defines a Chicago deep-dish pizza, this will drive you a little crazy. The Zachary's version is (a) round, not square and (b) has a second layer of dough above the ingredients, but below the sauce. To make things even more confusing, they also offer a "thin" crust version which is (a) not deep dish, (b) not thin but what a New York pizza maker would call "regular" and (c) fixed in the same order as a New York pizza, which means that it's not a Chicago pizza at all.
You'll have to contemplate these mysteries while you eat one of their delicious pizzas - either kind, they're both great - and decide if it really matters. In fact, you might have to have one of each, maybe more. No rush. Oh, and if you are having some people over and you want to bring them into this conundrum, you can order any of the pizzas "half-baked" and finish cooking them at home when you're ready.
