The Old Briones Road Trail provides a leisurely short hike through the heart of the Briones Regional Park, one of the lovely open spaces of the East Bay hinterlands. You can pick up the 2.7-mile trail from either the Bear Creek Staging Area in the park's southwest, or via its other trailhead at Briones Road's terminus. In between, the route surmounts the Briones Crest, the handsome divide between Bear and Alhambra creeks.
Views extend from the Diablo Range out to San Francisco Bay. Spring's an excellent time to stroll the Old Briones Road, given abundant wildflower displays. Shutterbugs, eat your heart's out!
