Thanks for the Parks

John Muir National Historic Site offers a glimpse into the life of the man that you can thank for the National Park Service and the national parks that are preserved across the United States. The historic site features John Muir's home just outside of Martinez, California, where his writings made him one of the nation's most famous and influential naturalists. You will feel the love of nature that Muir had when you step foot in his house and take this educational tour.

The historic site also features a 9-acre park, on which some of John Muir's orchard trees are now preserved. Visitors can take a hike around the park and even take some fruit home as well, as a reminder of the importance of preserving our planet.

Utrip Tips

*If you wanted to hike (and experience the natural beauty of the area), Mount Wanda should do the trick. Just cross Highway 4 to get to the trailhead.
