When you think Indian cuisine in Chicago, the Devon Avenue neighborhood is the place to go. The South Asian community has established their own neighborhood - a great Chicago tradition of special places in the city - between Lake Michigan and the O'Hare International Airport (although the "Devon Avenue" district has since expanded to include areas to the northwest suburbs.
For a selection of South Asian restaurants and shops (including Indian, Pakistani, and other Asian societies), this is the place to go. Yet, the area has not lost its original identity as the local Jewish neighborhood; restaurants, bakeries and shops still abound.
