The Tam's a tried-and-true dive bar, plain and simple: dirt-cheap beer, reliably stiff drinks, and a loyal clan of regulars. This much-loved, cash-only joint's the sort of place to hole up in for a little old-fashioned day drinking; come evening, it'll likely be packed and festive, but the bartenders tend to be sharp-eyed and attentive however clamorous and jostling the bar is.
If you're looking for an upscale lounge or a modern-style brewpub, the Tam's not your place (although it does boast a decent-enough tap list). Come here for pretension-free imbibing and maybe a little spontaneous revelry, and leave the attitude at the entryway.
