You could say that Black Rose is touristy. It's a massive classic Irish bar spread over two floors and as such it does attract visitors to Boston. But it feels like an authentic pub, with an atmosphere of cool dark wood and gleaming glasses.
The Guinness is well kept and poured and the bar food is plain but good, examples being fish and chips, Irish Breakfast and shepherd's pie. Black Rose isn't where you'd choose to go for an elegant fine dining experience, being more about the drinking and talking and maybe getting a bite to eat.
