Spectacular Island Park

This 105-acre island in Boston Harbor is a part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. The island is home to five miles of walking trails, a swimming beach complete with lifeguard, a marina, and a café.

The public park is easy to get to by ferry from Boston. Two hotels sat on the island in the mid 19th century along with a horse rendering plant and a city trash incinerator. But starting in 2006, the park opened to the public for recreation. The island is a quiet respite from the urban sprawl of Boston with plenty of wildlife and plants as well as a spectacular view of the city.
