One of two courses owned and operated by the City of Boston, the George Wright Golf Course has been a favorite of both local and visiting golfers since it opened back in 1938. Named for a legendary Cincinnati/Boston Red Stockings baseball player and golf advocate, the course owes its gorgeous layout to famed designer Donald Ross and its establishment to a WPA effort. In 2009, Golf Digest called it Massachusetts's "Best Municipal Course," and Golfweek that year declared it the 14th best municipal course in the U.S.
Besides 18 beautifully set holes, the course offers eats and refreshments at the Wright Grill. So why not grab those clubs and make a day of it?
