If you're looking for a cozy, intimate Italian restaurant in the north end of Boston, a good choice is Carmen. Although they are deservedly well known for their risotto, their menu ranges across all the classic Italian dishes. Their wine list is extensive, so you'll be able to find just the right bottle to match your meal. Although they do not have desserts, the dishes are so satisfying that you really won't miss them.
Reservations are highly recommended: the term "cozy" means, of course, "small," with only about 10 tables. The prices are on the upper end of the scale - although not excessively so, particularly for Boston - but the dishes, wines, service and ambiance make it worthwhile.
