Western Americana

Perched on the Rims with fine views over Billings, the Yellowstone County Museum tells the far-reaching and action-packed story of human settlement in the valley of the Yellowstone. It's a story that includes the rich indigenous cultures of the Northern Plains--the Lakota, Blackfoot, Northern Cheyenne, and Crow--as well as the Lewis and Clark Expedition, pioneer settlement, and the Old West mainstays of brothels and gambling saloons. Along with an extensive display of artifacts--including quite the collection of Wild West armament--the museum encompasses the 18th-century McCormick Cabin, a holdover from Billings' early homesteader days.
