Rainey Street is a great neighborhood for exploring Austin's local culture. Full of tons of dining, nightlife, and shopping options, Rainey Street is fun to peruse during the day or night. The atmorsphere is lively yet quaint. Old craftsman houses have been converted into businesses, so many of the stores and restaurants feel like you're walking into someones house. Yet, come night time, the energy of Rainey Street amps up and live music and drinking can be found in abundance. Not as rowdy or well known by tourists as 6th street, Rainey street is a great place to explore if you're looking for a more local hangout.
