Starry Cinema

The Paramount is a historic theatre and an Austin treasure that's very much alive in the modern world. It's a beautiful, distinctive building that's been through a series of transformations during a long history of entertaining the public.

It started life in 1915 as a vaudeville house then became a grand movie palace, hosting first nights with visits from stars like Katharine Hepburn and Houdini.

When downtown Austin declined in the mid-20th century, the place looked doomed, but today it's been revived as a venue for both classic films and today's popular movies. It's a splendid place to see a film and just soak up the atmosphere.
