Playground as Art Installation

Among America's most unique playgrounds, the Noguchi Playscape in Piedmont Park proves that art can most definitely be enjoyed in hands-on fashion by everybody. The sharp-angled swingsets, colorful seesaw, climbing blocks, and other features represent the only playground Isamu Noguchi designed that was installed during the famed artist and architect's lifetime. Constructed in 1976 (funding came from the High Museum of Art as a bicentennial gift to the City of Atlanta), Noguchi's Playscape was fully restored in the 21st century, ensuring it will remain a kid's delight--and one of Atlanta's most distinctive art installations--for years to come.
