The Gate City's Gate

A symbol of peace and of Atlanta ("the Gate City") itself, the Millennium Gate Museum dramatically boosted Midtown's skyline in the mid-2000s. This 100-foot-tall Roman-style triumphal arch sports a pair of Alexander Stoddart sculptures that evoke figures from Greek mythology and a Latin inscription that means: "This American monument is dedicated to all peaceful accomplishment, Anno Domini 2000." Inside lies an exceptional 12,000-square-foot history museum with displays on Georgia's pre-Columbian and Euro-American heritage, plus traveling exhibitions focused on all corners of the globe.
