"Thai food gone mad" isn't really a bad description for Smiling BKK. The fact that their sign has a Mona Lisa with a mustache should be the first clue that something is up, but the true weirdness is inside, with a decor so eclectic that it can't even be summarized.
The food itself is not actually anything too wild, for the most part a fairly standard Thai menu with things like tom yam noodle dishes, pad thai, fragrant noodle soups and spicy som tam salad. Menu items have oddball names like "Billy Jean Is Not My Lover", however, and the waitstaff may break into song and dance depending on the mood of the house that night. The food is decent enough to be worth the modest asking price, and the weirdness is probably worth at least one trip all by itself.
