Feel The Wind In Your Hair

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard of the Palm Islands in Dubai at some time or another. These rather controversial man-made islands are a huge undertaking and are quite spectacular to see. They are not open to the public so you can only see them from the air or sea (unless you are well connected) but they are still a huge attraction. The creator of them bills them as the "8th Wonder of the World" and time will tell if they live up to that designation.

As of 2015 only one of the Palm Islands is complete and it's the Palm Jumeirah, an artificial island shaped like a palm tree where people live and businesses operate. Another palm shaped island called "Deira" and a mini-map of the Earth called "The World" are under construction.

There is a monorail system in place but it's not open to the public and doesn't connect to public transportation. You can buy real estate on the Palm Islands if you have the means and the desire.
