Culture of the UAE

A visit to Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque in Dubai gives an interesting insight into one of the cultural and religious aspects of the UAE. This mosque is unusual because it opens its doors to non-Muslims; tours are available daily in the morning and afternoon.

Dress strictly follows Arabic traditions and Islamic guidelines, and Kandoorah and A'baya are supplied to visitors. The mosque features 124 stained-glass windows, 21 domes and four minarets; the structure is based on the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. The beautiful hand-made Islamic art took a year to complete.
