The Best Turkish Coffee?

As with so many of the best places, Mandabatmaz's pocketsized dimensions belie its legendary reputation. Some claim this tiny café, which has been brewing along in an alleyway off Istiklal Avenue since 1967, churns out the very best Turkish coffee in all of Istanbul. The name basically translates to "thick enough that a buffalo won't sink," and this almost doesn't seem hyperbole when you're sipping a rich, steamy, hold-onto-your-hat cup on one of the outside stools. The only other thing on the menu also happens to be very good: Mandabatmaz's tea. Whichever beverage you choose, it'll be the perfect pick-me-up tucked into your Istanbul sightseeing.
