Historic Pirate Ruins

Blackbeard's Tower is located on a ridge five miles east of Fort Montagu on the island of New Providence in Nassau in the Bahamas. The tower was once a hub for pirates of the Caribbean back in the 18th century and was used by local pirates as a lookout tower.

These days, the tower's ruins are little more than crumbling masonry. It's not easy to find the tower ruins, as the site is tucked away in an overgrown location out on the ridge and not visible from the road. The interior metal staircase is also no longer safe to climb, but the tower is a great stop off for history buffs and lovers of pirate folklore.

Utrip Tips

*Ye be warned! Sadly, Blackbeard's Tower has fallen into disrepair and the staircase inside the tower is no longer safe to climb. It is not easy to find the tower, as much of the surrounding area is overgrown. But if you're looking for a bit of an adventure in the spirit of piracy, it's worth checking out.
