The Bahamas Historical Society is located on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. The society is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1959 and is dedicated to providing cultural and educational information about Bahamian history.
One of the primary objectives of the society is to improve the museum. The collection in the museum currently features a range of historical, archaeological and anthropological artifacts that span more than 500 years of Bahamian history.
Rather than simply offer dry text about the history of the Bahamas, the museum presents the country's history on colorfully painted panels that make it easy for visitors to follow the historical timeline from Columbus' era through to the present time.
