The district of Carmen, referring to everything upwards of Plaza Ayuntamento, is the diverse alternative and bohemian scene of Valencia. The majority of Carmen consists of pubs, lounges and bars ideal for drinking and enjoying local music. Though you won't hear very much mainstream, you will most definitely come across jazz, blues, latino, R&B, hip-hop, rock, trance, house, funk, 40s-80s, and genres you've never heard of. Walk along Calle Caballeros for more mainstream bars; otherwise, go on an adventure through the maze of historic backstreets.
