Frescoed Inspiration

Located at the highest point of the city, the Basilica de la Virgen de los Desamparados is one of the most historically significant sites in Valencia's old town. The basilica was constructed in the mid-17th century in Plaza de la Virgen. Visitors can admire Antonio Palomino’s Renaissance-style frescoes in juxtaposition with the seven sets of stained glass windows. The beautiful statue of the Virgin is adorned with jewels and can be seen illuminated inside the basilica.
