History 101

Pop quiz on antiquity. On which empire's shoulder's does the entirety of western civilization stand? That's the one based in the eternal city for those of you who slept through that particular lesson. At the Archaeological Ensemble of Italica you'll find as pristine and immaculately preserved a set of Roman ruins as exists west of Italy. Stroll through the birthplace of emperors Trajan and Hadrian and soak up the gravitas of years. Check out the ruins of the stone amphitheater said to be quite striking by those in the know. If it's a hot day be sure to bring water as there are no stores nearby.
